We have done tone of commercial signage and objects for different corporate events or companies that were promoting them selves but sometimes we come across some very technically and structurally challenging designs that not only need to be machined unconventional way but they also need to be scaled to enormous sizes. Well, that’s what we like the most. We would like to share couple of images from one of these projects with you. Large propeller promoting a new History Chanel television show in Toronto American Pickers. The challenge was to replicate a real propeller, scale it up and machine it for advertising “not flying ” purposes. We 3D modeled, scaled, sliced and machine this propellers on 3/4″ material and put back layer by layer in to one solid peace.

We like the challenge. Projects like these are always challenging especially when you have tight deadlines. The design intricacy and complexity adds even more to the challenge of this project but with right tool and enough experience nothing is impossible. We’d like to share few images with you from one of these projects that came out from our shop just recently.  Capital One is about to offer their financial products over these kiosks / exhibit booths across the Canada and this is one of the prototypes at Toronto Pearson International Airport that is going to test their waters for them. We think it couldn’t turn out better.

Flowing images are results of pre-engineered plywood templates with naming engraved in to actual templates for better assembly and manipulation. Templates were later fabricated with another layer of plywood to create a custom shaped cast that will get later filled with concrete and shape out parts for a future water barrages.

The reason behind this project is to give you and our existing customers, easy to use online tool to price and order your RTA ready to assemble kitchen cabinets as well as expend our Toronto client base.

SmartCabinets.ca is meant to be a very plain tool where you will be able to find different kitchen cabinet types fast and easy and have your project prices right on the spot

Not only there is not too many services for contractors and woodworkers in Toronto like this but what will make SmartCabinets.ca really different is extra wide range of options, lot of customizable features and a full control of price while building your kitchen.

The onedge series explores possibilities of new materials like bamboo and plywood, pushing structure and form to a whole new level to create comfort using CNC cutting technologies and new furniture design techniques. Onedge rocker is a great example of what these two can achieve together.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, CNC cutting is definitely not limited to kitchen cabinets and furniture cutting. There are large communities of hobbyists designing and building great sounding, ultra high-efficiency loudspeakers. In fact, we have recently started to work with them!

Black Dahlia Acoustics, Ltd. is one of the many companies offering to this great technology to hobbyists in a BassZilla Plans Kit. You can purchase the full design kit for about $29 and learn in detail how to build these speakers from scratch.

The kit is very well-done and easy-to-follow, except the fact that you still have to somehow cut all parts precisely enough to make them sound great. That’s exactly where CNC cutting can help you in a big way.  Since all parts were designed and nested for CNC cutting, it is very easy for us to export all parts to our CNC machine and them all cut with extreme precision and speed for you to save time and money on cutting them yourself.

With CNC, we can cut any possible shape you can imagine or any shape you’ve already created using a 2D or 3D model. This is handy especially for designers and design companies that are used to working with vector and 3D artwork on an everyday basis. We can also transform any image (you have the right to use) to vectors and cut it for you, for additional charges.

In order to cut anything on CNC, design has to be in pace with all necessary details. There are about 50 different cabinet and design software out there to help you figure out your renovation or kitchen remodeling design. Many of our customers are using them already. Most of these design packages are able to export your designs in to an Excel spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are great way to share information such as the part sizes and quantities you want us to cut. Excel spreadsheets are actually the only cut list format we can accept for cutting if you want to skip the design part and save extra money.

If you have hand sketches or architectural drawings, we still have to put them through our detailing department and put them into 3D in order to cut them… unless you will provide us with a parts breakdown in excel spreadsheets like above.

Automated wood and PVC edge banding is a very common and useful method of sealing and covering the exposed cut-edge of sheet-stock cut material like melamine or plywood. This method is mainly used for kitchen & bathroom cabinets, office furniture, or closets. Our edge banding facility is fully automated and we can edge-bend PVC and solid wood with outstanding speed, efficiency, quality and price. It is important for you to understand how our estimating works so you can best calculate the price of your project.
